Finding the Balance

What is the balance between the use of technology and the building of Christian relationships and community? Technology offers tools for the church to use for ministry, but it does not take the place of Christian community. There is a place and need for both.

Christian community is necessary for the nurturing of faith and building of relationships, but community does not have to stop when people leave. Christian community can be extended into the virtual world by helping people communicate at times when they are apart. Words of encouragement, sharing a brief scripture or a brief text message can be a way of extending the reach of community. Both technology and the Christian community are important elements of the church in the 21st century; the key is to keep them in balance with one another.
